“when diet is wrong medicine is of no use. when diet is correct medicine is of no need.”
ayurveda recognizes that humans are part of nature and all of nature is comprised of a combination of the five elements: earth, fire, water, air, and space. this means that each of us has our own particular combination of elements that create our constitution, or dosha. for each element there is a balanced and imbalanced expression.
we are born with a specific balanced dosha but as we grow and face life's many challenges, our natural constitution can become imbalanced, causing dis-ease and sickness in the mind, body, and/or spirit.
ayurveda provides us with guidelines for daily and seasonal routines, diet, behavior, and correct use of our senses. this living science incorporates philosophy, psychology, nutrition, yoga, meditation, herbs, massage, mudra, mantra, and aromatherapy to integrate and balance the connection between our environment, mind, body, and spirit.
